The Night Owl is The Midlands’ finest soul and retro club and intimate live music venue set in the heart of Digbeth, the Creative Quarter of  Birmingham.

This is the venue that soul fans across the UK have been crying out for. It gains its name from a classic Northern Soul record ‘The Night Owl’ by Bobby Paris. Northern Soul isn’t just a type of music, it’s a way of life. The records, the dancing, the clothes,  and the lifelong friends made. Richard Priest has adored Northern Soul since his teenage years in the 1970s; he became a regular at infamous all-nighter parties at legendary venues such as Wigan Casino. His dream has become a reality. Combining Richard Priest’s vision with Promoter Mazzy Snape’s know-how the venue has evolved into the place to be for all fans of good soul and guitar-based music.

We have a sprung wooden dance-floor, making it safe for the acrobatics of Northern Soul dancing. The venue also features a modern spin on the vintage interiors by Stax Creations, the people behind the quirky interior at Alfie Birds and the fantastic exterior of The Old Crown Beer Garden. The DJ booth is kitted out with vinyl turntables and CDJs. At pure Northern Soul events a camera is positioned above the record decks and projects the label of the record that is playing onto the wall. The venue also benefits from the highest quality sound equipment.
