Learn some new moves this weekend at the Birmingham International Dance Festival!

Always wanted to learn how to disco dance like a true diva? Or perfect your spins and flips for our Northern Soul all nighters? Join us this weekend at Birmingham's International Dance Festival (BIDF) for our Soul Train and Northern Soul dance classes!

Over June 1st - June 3rd The Night Owl will be hosting two classes in Victoria Square, Birmingham as part of the Birmingham Dances Weekend. Set up by BIDF - the weekend aims to get people moving and to learn something new - all for free of charge!

Three years ago, The Night Owl became known for championing the Northern Soul movement - hosting soul all nighters where dancers would twist and flip to 1960s and 70s soul. Now is the chance for you to be part of the magic - as an original Wigan Casino dancer Robert ‘Nobby’ Pierce will host a Northern Soul Workshop on Sunday, June 3rd for even the most novice dancer to get involved!

We're also known for our legendary disco dance offs at club night Le Freak. The monthly disco, funk and soul night has had eager dancers queueing around the block to strut their stuff and show off their moves for two years. Now, resident groovers and shakers Edmund Quigley and Tori Drew will be teaching dancers how to shake, spin, move and groove in the style of Soul Train on Saturday, June 2nd. The hit 1970s Television show inspired these legendary dance offs, and is famous for its incredible dancers - who would show off their best moves to hit disco music.

The Birmingham International Dance Festival features dancing and culture from all around the world, and runs from June 1st - 24th.
