With the fourth Big Birmingham Soul Night takeover at Birmingham Town Hall just around the corner, taking place on May 25th, we've certainly got the bug for great soul music! To get you in the mood to dance all night in the two large rooms in Birmingham's prestigious Town Hall, we asked our favourite Night Owls to tell us their top soul picks and why they love playing them.
One of the biggest Britpop bands around are of course Oasis, but how did one of Britain's biggest bands get to where they are today? Get an inside look in to the history of UK music with An Evening with Alan McGee, one of the founders of Britpop record label Creation Records and the man who discovered Oasis this Saturday, May 11th.
The evening, featuring an insider look into the music industry, will be hosted by BBC Radio Stoke DJ and Britpop aficionado Rob Fiddaman alongside Mazzy Snape. Bolton based The Jade Assembly, a four piece bolster raw energetic and talent and are the perfect new band for any fans of Oasis, The Courteeners, The Stone Roses and Kasabian. Plus, an acoustic set from Chris Bloor (Blue Nation) and DJ's Shaun Walsh (known for stealing the Birmingham scene with indie club nights Resurrection and Panic) and Mazzy Snape will be playing the best in indie and Britpop well into the early hours.
